Gazebo time…

A real family effort this one and whilst it is quite a large structure, it does go up relatively easily. My wife stained the wood before installation, quite a meticulous job, with two of my children helping put up the structure itself.

The only problem I did encounter, was when cutting the top beam… The gazebo came as a kit, but I wanted to modify it slightly to ensure we complied with our planning permission. This required cutting the three long beams to reduce the overhang. This went well for the lower two, but for some unknown reason, I cut the top one on the wrong end. This meant that all the mortice and tenons did not align. Not to worry, it was the top beam and flipping it over and cutting new ones in the underside averted disaster.

The roof will be installed by a local builder, who will also replace the tiles on the pool house at the same time.
