Tiling complete!

The tiling is complete and with it marks the end of the external works. We can finally sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labours, enjoy a nice glass of local red and relax…

The tiling for this trip was a little more complex, as all the tiles needed scribing and cutting to fit neatly against the rendered walls of the upper terraces. There is a gap, approximately 200mm, at the pool end that will be filled with granite pebbles. We decided to do this as having such a small tile would be unstable on the pedestals. It also has the added benefit of matching the pebbles that we will put in around the base of the outdoor shower.

One of the most pleasing details that I have achieved with the pool deck is the sail shade poles. This was potentially an area that could have looked pretty bad because of the very difficult angled cut. However, I took some detailed measurement the last time and 3D printer some shrouds to go into the tile and fit neatly around the post. This also has the added benefit of allow the post to flex a little in the wind without putting pressure on the tile itself.
